In this series of photographs, the artist creates adaptations of a select few messages from years of hate mail she received under her persona, Arabelle. By doing so, she pulls the audience through the screen and immerses them into the complex relationship that sex workers have with social media. She takes the written word and embodies them with her complete self, forcing the audience to see through the veil of their own perceptions of race, strength, sex, individuality and visual media. By creating a literal interpretation, she brings forth a reality rarely seen by civilians but still tantamount to the truths of many people who work in the adult industry. This series appeared in the We’re Still Working: The Art of Sex Work gallery show at SOMArts in San Francisco. Arabelle is working on a book expanding the series to all forms of mail from hate to praise. It was featured on KQED Arts, Vice and The East Bay Express.

These are a sample of this series which is now being turned into a book, coming soon. The book goes further contains works based on all mail she has received positive and negative.
